Direct Messaging

Direct Messaging (DM) is a secure, HIPPA compliant e-mail service that allows providers to securely send and receive e-mail messages and attachments. DM can be used to achieve meaningful use by enabling the electronic exchange of clinical information. An internet connection is all that is needed to access DM. Direct secure messaging is a secure and efficient way to send protected health information. SHI’s Direct Messaging service is powered by Inpriva, which is Direct Trust Accredited.

In order to meet, Meaningful Use Stage 2 Transition of Care requirements, The HIE can provide a referral messaging service to referral partners across a community, allowing approved partners to send and receive CCDA’s from each other in a secure timely manner. When paired with the HIE Direct Service, all users can receive a full C32 Patient Summary, in addition to the CCDA, of the patient generated by The HIE to capture the full clinical picture.

The HIE offers an enhanced direct messaging platform, called HIE Direct. HIE Direct provides users the ability to request and retrieve data directly from the HIE, both local and the Florida HIE. Providers that are licensed and authorized to write prescriptions in the State of Florida are eligible for the HIE Direct service. Patient authorization is required.
