Patient Privacy

Information shared through the HIE is protected under the HIPPA Act. The HIE and participating partners use a combination of safeguards to protect your health information. Technical safeguards include: encryption, password protection, and audit logs to track all use of the system. Administrative safeguards include written policies that require limited access to information through HIE. All partners must agree to the stated polices.

Visit your healthcare providers to give them permission to view your health data in the Health Information Exchange.

Your signature on the request must be notarized. When you opt-out, all of the information that has been gathered by the participating providers since you made your request to participate will not be available for sharing through the HIE except in situations where you may be involved in a life threatening event. You can also make the same request on behalf of you minor child/children.
